A venit randul Austriei sa intre in joc prima data ca gazda, a doua oara ca si competitoare. Primul meci al zilei a pus fata in fata marea speranta a unora, Croatia si asa cum spuneam, Austria. Din nou, gazdele si-au respectata ‘blazonul’ de gazda primitoare si au cedat cu cu 0-1 in fata echipei in patratele.
Daca e sa ne luam dupa jocul echipei, Autria nu are nicio sansa la acest capionat eurpean. Nu ca am fi asteptat prea multi un joic extraodinar al echipei care este cotata cu ultima sansa la castigarea Europeanului. Austriecii au excelat doar la calitatea transmisiunii tv, unde abundenta de camere de pe arena care va gazdui finala, s-a facut simtita. Zeci de unghiuri de filmare, reluari spectaculoase ale inclestarii celor 2 combatante si o bijuterie de stadion au facut din primul meci al grupei B un spectacol forbalistic reusit. In contrast, cele 2 echipe nu au excelat la capitolul fotbal decat prin multe mingi aruncate in careu si suturi la poarta de la cca 20m (Austria) si prin contraatacuri taioase menita sa bage frica in apararea advesa (Croatia).
Una peste alta, Croatia nu a arata ce stie deorece nu a avut nevoie sau mai bine zis nu a avut cu cine. Un 1-0 sec, menit sa aduca cele 3 puncte si atat. Poate doar travaliul fantastic al lui Ivica Olic merita amintit, un jucator care a alergat din rpimul minut pana in cel care a fost inlocuit de antrenorul sau.
Incepand cu 21:45 a intrat i nscena si cel mai mic oras gazda al acestui european: Klagenfurt. Cu o populatie sub 100mii locuitori, edilii au construit o arena ultra moderna cu 30mii de locuri. Adica, oricum mai mult decat locuitorii impatimiti de fotbal din respectivul oras.
Sa trecem la meci: Germania nu a acordat nicio sansa Poloniei in primul rand datorita erorilor din defensiva leseasca. Cu un joc la offside defectuos, polonezii au permis ‘gemenilor golului’ – cum sunt numiti cei doi polonezi din atacul german (Podolski, Klose) – sa-si bata joc de apararea lor inca din primele minute. Astfel, nu a durat mult pana Podolski a refuzat sa se bucure pentru primul sau gol la acest european. Cu toate ca polonezii s-au aruncat in atac si au cosntruit destul de bine, Germania a aratat ca o echipa solida, o veritabila pretendenta la titlu continental (m-a impresionat mai mult decat Portugalia). Cel de al doilea gol al lui Podolski nu a factu decat sa l treaca pe acesta in capul listei cu marcatori de la acest turneu final.
Pentru polonezi ramane sansa unei victorii sau macar a unui egal cu Croatia pentru a spera la o calificare mai departe in fazele superioare ale competitiei.
Daca trag linie, Grupa B arata exact asa cum mi-am imaginat dupa prima zi, cu cele 2 favorite impunandu-se in meciurile lor si luand o optiune serioasa pentru calificare.
